Hip hop was born in the ghetto. It was a place where a neighbor who was laughing and talking with me yesterday was shot and killed, and rampant racism was scattering ashes on everyday life. It’s impossible to say exactly what hip-hop is, but it is certain that it is a culture created by people who did not give up on life even in places where there seemed to be no hope.
Hip-hop, which was born in this way, spread its unique dynamic energy throughout the world through the 90s, and also settled in Korea. And in 2025, hip-hop musicians running through life chasing a glimmer of hope gathered at HD BL4CK’s [2025].
In HD BL4CK’s 12th full-length album [2025], numerous musicians gather to talk about the new year. Did you want to capture the wishes of as many different musicians as possible? HD BL4CK has woven together various sounds found in the hip-hop and R&B categories, from boom bap to drill, in his own way. A total of 38 artists added their voices to the last track, “2025”. I hope that all the wishes and goals that the musicians wrote in their lyrics come true.
